2017 NFL Scouting Combine Looks To Offer More Comedy

(Last Updated On: September 29, 2017)

Preparing for the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine is no easy task, considering it essentially gives viewers a melting pot of awkward job interviews. Name one other career on planet earth where your primary job interview is wearing form fitting tank tops and spandex shorts and running around sweating in front of a bunch of old men taking notes. It’s weird.

Prospects at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine look to eclipse Tom Brady as the greatest photoshooter in history.

But that doesn’t mean this week of 330 prospect interviews and drills intended to shape the NFL draft class of 2017 can’t give lucky viewers some comedy and entertainment along the way – including the dumbest and most arbitrary questions you’ve ever heard, shocking 40-yard dash face plants, and inevitable sports memes. With Day 1 in the books and prospect chatter in full force, we felt it was time to look back on the funniest NFL Draft Combine memes, interviews, falls and just general occurrences ever in preparation of the next few days of the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.

Tom Brady’s 40-Yard Dash:

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say those look like Cargo shorts, which naturally convinced the New England Patriots to take a shot on the Michigan hurler with the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft. Yet whether he wears said short shorts or UGGs or runs a dreadful 5.28 in the 40-yard dash, Brady has Boston men everywhere drooling daily.

Chris Jones’ Wardrobe Malfunction:

Defensive Tackle Chris Jones couldn’t have possibly prepared himself for what was to come at the 2016 NFL Combine. He did, however, deliver the greatest combine quote in recent memory following the epic flopper.

Rich Eisen’s 40-Yard Dash:

For once a broadcaster actually walked (ran?) a mile in an athlete’s shoes, as NFL Network personality Rich Eisen ran for his life trying to touch a slow time. Molasses.

When One NFL Team Asked This Question:

Austen Lane Shares His Stories:

Last year, SB Nation covered some tweets produced by former NFL Defensive End Austen Lane. His experiences seem to give us confirmation that NFL Scouting Combine Questions are fucking weird.

Other strangling questions that shocked:

NFL Network’s Steve Mariucci asks quarterback Geno Smith what the “drug of choice” was on West Virginia campus.

“Which team do you pick in Madden and why?” – per Ian Rapoport

Gerald McCoy’s claim of “g-string or jock strap?”

“If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?” – per Sports Illustrated
