Nailed it. Now that they’ve canceled their ‘perfect season’ parade, the Cleveland Browns can finally move on from a battered season during which their greatest highlight was not joining the 2008 Detroit Lions as the only 0-16 teams in NFL history. Hue Jackson even thinks this win might be a turning point for the team. I’d guess he means turning point in that they risk losing the top pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The quarterback suggestions for the 2016 Browns we made back in March never came through, but maybe there’s still hope. One can’t deny the emotion that the Browns’ previously distraught head coach showed when they got to 0-12.
Despite almost losing again in Week 16 with the Chargers missing two potentially game-tying field goals, the Browns can once again lock up the No. 1 overall pick if they lose to the Steelers in Pittsburgh in Week 17. Look for Duke Johnson to [finally] explode for next year’s Browns. And look for this city to ride their forever-lowly ball club to a record that screams for relevance.
