In the least surprising news of the week, Tom Brady is set to grace the cover of Madden 18. This is eerily significant because the infamous Madden curse has always held true in some form. Saints gunslinger Drew Brees had a good year, but lost to the Beast Mode Run against the 7-9 Seahawks in the 2010 NFC Wild Card Game. Giants spark plug Odell Beckham Jr. had a monster year but went on the boat and blew it in the playoffs. Patriots monster Rob Gronkowski actually broke his arm and missed a ton of time. One-hit wonder Peyton Hillis’s career ended. The list goes on.
Tom Brady has shown time and again that he is immune to the type of cosmic intervention and Karma that should have struck his phony smiling, white bread Ugg-wearing ass down a long time ago. So Brady naturally doesn’t believe in this shit..

What history has taught us leads to two possible results here for the Madden 18 cover athlete. One, the curse doesn’t work this year for pretty much the first time ever, or two, Brady tears his ACL, Jimmy Garoppolo comes in, Jimmy Garoppolo becomes a Pro Bowler and the next best thing.
Let’s remember, the last time Brady got hurt Week 1 and missed the whole season, Matt Cassel came in for New England, went 11-5, and barely missed the playoffs due to tiebreaker rules. The Patriots haven’t missed the playoffs since. Others might say, “You’re getting too logical, curses don’t have logic.” To that, I say “You’re putting too much reliance on the always reliable Madden curse; Brady will once again defy the odds.”
This will be the moment/year when the Madden Curse breaks. There is no doubt that Tom Brady will not only be the first player to not be directly harmed by the Madden Curse, but will likely reverse it and become the first Madden Cover player to REPEAT AS SUPER BOWL CHAMP; which will inevitably result in Brady being the first guy with back-to-back covers when the next Madden comes out, trapping us in an endless, horrifying loop of Bradydom that can only end with our deaths… or his.
